On the occasion of the EXPO FERROVIARIA in Milan, held from 28 to 30 September 2021, DIC-80, the first intelligent maintenance train created by Geosintesi spa, a leading company for environmental engineering and infrastructure maintenance, was presented.
The project, launched three years ago and presented to the European Parliament in 2019, has as its main objective the reduction of the emission of weed agents used along railway routes.
The Particle design team has designed and built a highly technological system capable of providing all the information related to the surrounding environment on which to intervene, making possible the controlled and selective action of weeding systems.
The project was structured according to three fundamental work processes, through AGILE/SCRUM development management, with plans released weekly. Thanks to the creation of three specific applications, connected to the laser scans implanted on the train and functional during the detection phase of existing vegetation, a predictive analysis system has been created for the possible infrastructure problems present on the railway network.
The management of intervention plans, monitored by a Web App and the collection of information through easy-to-use mobile tools by technicians and operators involved in on-site surveying and manual interventions, make the management and collection of information simple and immediate.
A third application, OnBoard, processes the data collected during the train ride, allowing you to manage all the information acquired during the route in order to obtain precise measurements along the entire railway line of interest.
