Creation of Web apps, Mobile Apps and On Board Apps for the automated management of the weeding of railway lines.
Geosintesi spa, a leading company in vegetation control services in the railway sector, for the creation of the intelligent train of the RailLandascape project, presented to the European Parliament on 03/19/2019, it needed to create a technological plant capable of recognizing weed vegetation.
Particle contributed to the creation of the first intelligent train, the DIC-80, capable of automating the weeding system of railway lines, managing the stabilization of the slopes and the state of the infrastructure.This highly technological system, designed and created by our professionals, is able to provide all the information relating to the surrounding environment on which we need to intervene, in a selective and differentiated way through consultation starting from smartphone or tablet mobile devices. This operating method allows you to intervene on the line in a punctual and selective manner.
The project was structured on three fundamental work processes, according to development management via AGILE/Scrum, with weekly release plans.First of all, a monitoring system has been created that allows the real-time recognition of areas that have a green color range that can be classified as a weed species, information necessary to operate weedkiller delivery in an automated and intelligent manner. To do this, high-resolution industrial RGB cameras were used for image collection and their consequent division into analysis areas for targeted intervention.On board the vehicle, we use a Lidar-type laser scanner for the morphological recognition of the area crossed by the railway vehicle. The system analyzes subsequent surveys in compatible areas according to discretionary analyzes which lead to highlighting possible problems such as landslides, mismatch of signs and possible failure of works of art.Three specific Apps were created to collect information and surveys.A Web App for the management of intervention plans and information collection, a Mobile App manageable from smartphones and tablets, for the control of manual interventions and on-site surveys, in order to make the collection of information simple and immediate.To detect areas with weeds, an OnBoard App has been created, which manages all the information acquired during the journey of the line.
