Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) it is a multidisciplinary approach.
It requires the parallel advancement of several technological pillars, including devices such as sensors, quality inspection systems, industrial computing, data analysis and knowledge management.
Recently, much attention has been paid to the implementation of analytics, such as Machine Learning, regression analysis and more, on time series data collected during manufacturing processes.
However, other types of data, such as written text, which gain the knowledge and experience of people working in production environments, addressing and solving quality problems in production, they can be very useful for your needs ZDM.
The solutions of Industrial Social Network (ISN) they can be very efficient to meet communication needs in a productive environment as they allow informal communication, more attractive to users, regarding incidents/events occurring in a workplace and to the exchange of best practices.
Accordingly, the use of ISN solutions to acquire informal knowledge sharing among employees of a productive company, combining data from IIoT platforms and analysis of unstructured textual data, it can prove very valuable in serving ZDM objectives.
We Plus, as part of the project H2020 MANUWORK “Balancing Human and Automation Levels for the Manufacturing Workplaces of the Future”, developed the solution RAPpID ISN which is used by production process personnel (engineers, line operators, maintenance personnel , etc.).
This enables knowledge sharing of past and new best practices for line operations, sharing lessons learnt, as well as improving connectivity and socialization between:
• employees and line operators working in the production area
• engineers/other experts working in other parts of the manufacturing plant
• external operators (es. suppliers, other colleagues in other company facilities, etc.)
All in order to raise immediate problems, trying to solve them and therefore reducing downtime, improving quality and reducing production losses.
So, l’objective of ISN4ZDM it is the integration of RAPpID ISN into ZDMP in order to extend ZDMP with an additional “component” providing new knowledge-based services towards ZDM.
RAPpID integrates existing ZDMP features with new features aimed at combining tacit employee knowledge with IIoT ( dataevents, incidents, analytics, etc.) which are typically used for ZDM purposes.
RAPpID benefits from integration with ZDMP both from a business perspective but also from technological aspects.
Through its integration with ZDMP, it will have access to a broad base of ZDMP potential clients.
Additionally, by integrating RAPpID with ZDMP, ZDMP-managed “data in moto” or “data in rest” will be accessible to RAPpID users via a dedicated dashboard, allowing employees to use typical social network features such as commenting, discussing, pointing to “Like”, posts, etc., on these IIoT-based events.
Textual user input will be combined with IIoT data in a knowledge-base database implemented by LMS using semantics and ontology technology.
